Magnektik

Magnektik

How can such a small  magnet hold the weight of tens of kilograms and not fall off the wall, while removing the magnet with your hand is so effortless?

That is the magic in Magnektik :)

Our magnets are strong, but their magneic field reaches only about 3 milimeters.

They can be placed directly on electronic devices without harming the circuits inside.  For example, our magnets are stuck to the metal cases of pc computers at home without harming the disks or drives.

Magnektik will not harm cellular telephones, televisions or even medical implant devices as the magnetic field is so shallow it will not penetrate the body.

Will Magnektik magnet products affect electronic devices in the home?

Magnektik has 6 models, each with a different maximum holding power.

What varieties of Magnektik products are there?

The Magnektik has a built in hook for hanging mirrors or pictures with wires.  It can also be bolted to or built on.  Below are some descriptions of specific uses.

Pictures can be hung by their wire by resting the wire on the Magnektik’s built in hook, or pictures may be hung by resting the flat support frame of the picture directly on the flat Magnektik bracket.

Alternatively, a specialy designed connector bracket enables you to mount objects to the Magnektik using a bolt and a nut.

Sheet Metal

Sheet Metal

What dimension wall panels can be ordered?

See our catalog  to review the many designs and styles in the series of wall panels we offer.

The most common sizes are 48" x 24" stripe and a 48" x 48" square.

Nevertheless, we also offer to produce any size panel to suit your needs and the visions of your design team.

Usually, a single panel cannot exceed 96" x 48" (about 1.20 x 2.40 meters) but please note that this size of metal makes it more expensive and it is harder to transport and install because of its weight and dimensions.

What kind of sheet metal specification do you recommend?

Galvanized sheet metal panels (The galvanized layer protects against rust).

Also, it should be 0.4-0.8 milimeter thick (24 gauge is recommended).

Sheet metal which is less than 0.4 milimeters thick will not allow for a secure magnetic bond between the wall panels and the Magnektik brackets.

Wall panels thicker than 0.8 milimeters will be very rigid and very heavy and may hamper adheision to the existing wall surface.

What are the popular colors available in sheet metal wall panels?

The off-white or cream colored panels are the most popular and are easiest to convert to wall white if painted over.  Many other colors such as red or black are available but not as popular.

Where can sheet metal wall panels be purchased?

Sheet metal panels can be sourced at many building or metal-work supply houses or shops or online.

In the US, please contact our partners:

  • Hadco Metal Trading    for sheet metal panels cut to size (contact Hadco)

  • MagneticWall    for Architectural Magnetic & Dry Erase Boards (contact Magneticwall)

Can magnetic paint, popular in do-it-yourself paint shops be a good replacement for sheet metal panels?

No, magnetic paint has some metallic content, and some magnets do bond to it, but is too weak to be used with Magnektik products.

What wall surfaces are appropriate for adhesion to the sheet metal panels?

Sheet metal panels may be adhered to sheetrock walls, plaster walls, concrete, wood, stone or other masonry; essentially most walls surfaces.

Walls must be straight, cleaned of oils and dust, soundly contructed and not crumbling or peeling.

Will the sheet metal panels fall if too much weight is supported by them?

We suggest using a durable industrial product like Polymer M.S.  These industial adheisives will hold tremendous weight and we do not see a limit when a wall panel properly installed that the sheet metal panels will fall away from the wall substrate. Moreover, when using an industrial adheisive, weight is displaced over the whole surface of the wall and not single points of support.

Important to note: when using adhensives, please read carefully the manufactor instructions.

Must I cover the whole wall with the sheet metal panels?

Generally there is no need to cover the whole wall with the sheet metal panels.  Recommended for general use is to install an horizontal strip about a meter from the floor and up.  This is the area most used for shelving, picture hanging and other access utilities.

Can sheet metal panels and Magnektik be incorporated into furniture?

Yes certainly.  Sheet metal panels can be adhered to the sides of cabinets for example and open up a wide range of uses and applications.

  • Sheet metal panels can be adhered to the faces of closet sliding doors or any other door.  Games with magnets can be played with in a child's room or hooks can be hunged for wet towels, coats and clothes for school the next day.

  • The insides of closets too can be made functional to hold belts and bags for example.

  • In the kitchen, the side of a cabinet can be made to hold a new shelf or hang towels or an ipad.

  • ...and more!

Installation

Installation

Options for installation

There are two methods of installing the sheet metal panels: Visible or Invisible.

The visible installation is an addition of decor to the existing interior design of any room.  Like " wallpaper" or "smart wallpaper" many patterns, colors, shapes and styles of printed on sheet metal panels can be installed on the walls and be functional and versatile with Magnektik products.

The invisible installation has the appearance of  a clean wall surface with no trace of the sheet metal panels.  By spackling the joints between panels and the where the panels meet existing wall, adding  a coat of primer and a coat of paint, and the walls will not show any signs that a change has been made.

Yes of course! The do-it-yourselfer can easily handle the easy installation of the sheet metal panels to appropriate surfaces.  We are happy to  provide customer service if you have any questions about your installation.

How do I remove the sheet metal panels if desired ?

The Sheet metal panels are adhered to the walls much the same as ceramic tile is installed on a wall.  With some effort the panels can be removed, but know that some plastering or spackling will be needed to bring the walls back to a finished state..
